The DISCUSSION BOARD is back up! Unfortunately our web hosting service had a FATAL crash over the weekend and we lost our discussion board. However, we had a backup of the board from last January and was able to load it back onto their system. At this point, if you registered anytime from January 2008 until now your information was lost and you will need to re-register to post any information.


NOVEMBER COACHES MEETING:
The coaches’ meeting was held on Sunday, November 9th @ 4:00. It was an informational meeting for all coaches and assistant coaches who plan to participate in the league next spring. The meeting was not mandatory, but a lot of information was discussed, including fund raising opportunities, uniform ordering information, coach & player clinic information, FCA information, rule changes, schedules, division splits, tournaments and a lot more. An email recap of the meeting went out last week to all coaches on our contact list. If you did not receive the email please request a copy by email to arttlt@bellsouth.net

There are numerous teams we have not heard from. If you plan to participate please contact the league asap.

·         The “TOURNAMENTS PAGE” is under construction. If anyone has tournament announcements they would like listed please email them in as brief a summary as possible to Angie.

·         The RULES, Registration Requirements, Directors and Time Line pages have been updated with 2009 information.

·         The “Coaches Application” & “Team Roster” have been updated for 2009 and are now available on the “Forms & Handouts” page.

 

2009 SPRING UPDATES:

DIVISION SPLITS FOR 2009:
The league has made plans to divide each age group into AA & AAA divisions for the spring in the 10 and older age groups. The final decision will obviously depend on how many teams participate in the spring. This will be discussed in more detail at the November meeting.

AGE GROUP DIRECTOR UPDATES:
There are 2 age group director changes you should be aware of.
14’s: Mike Purpura is no longer coaching and decided to just be a parent on the sidelines for next spring. Thank you for your service to the league Mike!! We wish you the best! Scott Cone has volunteered (he is a gluten for punishment we think) to be the new 14 year old director. Scott was the league director for this past spring’s 14 year old age group. His son can play down next spring so Scott is going to drop back and coach. Welcome back Scott!
10’s: After much thought Jude Melliadis decided not to be a director next spring due to his frequent out of country trips and busy schedule. Thank you for your service to the league Jude! We wish you REST! Brian Morton has volunteered to be the new 10 year old director and we are excited to have him! Welcome Brain!

Spring Registration:
Lanier Baseball accepts all teams who have secured a home field for their games. We also accept 1-2 Independent teams in each age group who do not have a home field. If this applies to you contact Angie Turner @ arttlt@bellsouth.net for more information.
For teams who are interested in joining the spring league please email – arttlt@bellsouth.net with the following information:  Age Group, Team Name, Coach’s Name & Contact Info.

8 Year Old Coach Pitch Division:
Lanier Baseball will again offer an 8 year old travel division in 2009. If you are interested in participating in this age group please email Angie Turner @ arttlt@bellsouth.net or call 770-652-7149. Rules have been established for this age group and are listed under the “Rules” on the menu bar.
As of 10/8/2008 we currently have 8 teams committed to the spring 8 year old division.

Feeder Teams:
We encourage participation from feeder teams in the 6th, 7th & 8th grade divisions. If there is enough participation in each grade level we will have separate divisions for the feeder & age specific teams for 2009. If there is not enough interest the feeder teams will play in the appropriate age division as stated in the Lanier League rules. 

2009 Cooperstown Dreams Park Information:
For rising 12 year old teams who are looking to make the trip next summer here is a link to the 2009 registration form. If you are on the fence about going – GET OFF and start making your plans today!
